What is a Neck Lift?

As we age, our necks are one of the first areas to show signs of aging. A neck lift tightens the skin and underlying muscles of the neck and improves the jawline contour for a more youthful appearance. This procedure is often done along with liposuction or a facelift.

Who is a Good Candidate?

Individuals who are unhappy with the appearance of their neck due to excess skin or fat can often benefit from this procedure. The Procedure

A neck lift can be done to address minimal to severe neck sagging and fullness. During the neck lift procedure, incisions will be created under the chin and/or behind the ears. The platysma muscle will be tightened, and excess skin and fat will be removed. Liposuction may be used to remove excess fat deposits. Incisions will be closed with sutures.

Recovery

Following a neck lift procedure, bruising, tightness, and numbness may occur. Bruising should resolve over the next five days, though tightness and numbness may last for several months. Any discomfort can be controlled with pain medication. Overall recovery time will differ for each patient depending on the extent of the procedure. Patients should follow Dr. Ehrmantraut’s specific post-op instructions to ensure a safe recovery.
