What is Defyne?

Defyne is an injectable treatment that belongs to the Restylane family of injectables. It uses hyaluronic acid to correct deep folds and lines around the nose and mouth, sometimes called nasolabial or marionette lines. These are commonly the result of a loss of volume as the aging process occurs. Hyaluronic acid is naturally found in the skin and is responsible for retaining moisture, and Defyne contains specially-formulated, cross-linked hyaluronic acid that creates volume under the skin and is resistant to wear from normal movements like smiling or chewing. The product can then be naturally and safely absorbed into the body over time.

How are Defyne Injections Performed?

Because every patient’s tolerance is different, a topical anesthetic can be used for this treatment to ease any discomfort. Once administered, a small needle is used to place the product underneath the skin of the treatment area. This can require multiple, small injections to ensure the product is evenly-distributed and produces a natural shape. Depending on the extensiveness of the treatment and the patient’s goals, this treatment session can take as little as fifteen minutes.

Although patients commonly experience some temporary swelling or redness at the injection site, results are immediately noticeable.
