The Procedure

A thigh lift can target the outer and inner thighs. During an inner thigh lift, also known as a medial thigh lift, an incision will be created in the groin area. Excess fat and skin will be removed along the inner thigh. Liposuction may also be used during the procedure to help contour the area.

During an outer thigh lift, also known as a lateral thigh lift, an incision will be made in the groin, around the hip, and possibly the buttock fold. The outer thighs and the buttocks are re-contoured, and excess skin and tissue excised. Scarring may be more extensive than an inner thigh lift. However, Dr. Ehrmantraut will work to place incisions as inconspicuously as possible, and in positions that can be covered with clothing.

Recovery

Although thigh lift results will be visible immediately after surgery, they will improve over time as swelling subsides. Compression garments will need to be worn to control swelling. Bruising and swelling are normal, and any discomfort can be controlled with pain medication. Recovery time can vary greatly among patients, depending on the extent of their procedure.
